Pepe turns back on China as PSG and Man City make move

Real Madrid defender Pepe is nearing an end to his highly-successful spell at the La Liga giants with his contract expiring at the end of the season.

Los Blancos opted against offering their first-choice centre-back a new contract and the Portugal international was thought to have given thumbs up on a €12 million per year move to Hebei China Fortune.

Spanish media outlet Marca reports that Pepe has had a change of heart and that he decided to shun his big-money move to Asia in order to stay in Europe as interest from Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain gains pace.

The Premier League’s big-spenders and Ligue 1 champions are apparently willing to do what Real Madrid failed and offer the Portuguese a two-year contract in order for him to stay in Europe and have already approached his agent Jorge Mendes.

Even though a move to Manuel Pellegrini’s Hebei China Fortune would be more lucrative, Pepe is believed to have chosen to stay as he is not ready to turn back on the Champions League football.
