Porto coach Vitor Pereira says his side will need to turn in a good display to beat Manchester City in Wednesday’s Europa League tie.
The Portuguese champions face an uphill task to defend their title in the UEFA competition after suffering a 2-1 defeat at the Estadio do Dragao in the first-leg.
“Our biggest strength will be our collective play,” Pereira said. “I do not believe in magic touches, nor in pulling rabbits out of hats.”
“I do believe in work consistency and the identity of the team. We will try to have the ball to create chances and also defend the way we normally do, with aggressive transitions.”
“It is by being consistent throughout the match that we want to win the tie.”
Porto have not won any of their 13 competitive matches played on English soil, but Pereira does not think that Wednesday’s match will be a one-way street.
“I am sure the match will be balanced,” he said. “We only have to fix some things that we did wrong in the first leg.”
