Manchester United youngster Davide Petrucci has extended his loan at Peterborough until the end of the season.

Petrucci has been restricted to playing just two games since his original one-month loan due to bad weather and FA cup ties.

The Championship side’s need for the Italian has been tempered by George Boyd’s failure to complete a deadline-day move to Nottingham Forest, but Petrucci insists he is pleased to be staying at London Road.

“I am very happy,” he told Peterborough’s club website.

“I only signed for a month in the first place because it was my first loan spell. I didn’t know what to expect.

“However, since the first few days, I realised that I wanted to stay for longer and I am very pleased to be here until the end of the season.”

Peterborough sit bottom of the Championship with a game in hand over fellow strugglers Bristol City and Barnsley.
