Pienaar rejoins Everton; Julio Cesar set for San Siro exit

Steven Pienaar has agreed to terms on a four-year deal with Everton after a £4.5 million transfer fee was accepted by Tottenham Hotspur, Sky Sports understands.

Pienaar, who played for Everton from 2008-11, joined Tottenham on a four-year contract in January 2011 for a transfer fee of £3 million.

The South African midfielder returned to Goodison Park last season after joining the Toffees on a six-month loan on transfer deadline day in January. He made 14 league starts for David Moyes’ side in 2012, tallying four goals and seven assists.

“I am happy to be here. It took a few weeks to sort out but I am delighted to be back and excited to play for Everton,” Pienaar told Everton’s official website.

“There was no doubt in my mind that I would be back here. At the end of the season, I told the manager how I felt and I am happy now it is all done.”

In other news, Everton are reportedly keen on FC Copenhagen left-back Bryan Oviedo, Sky Sports reports.

The future of current left-back Leighton Baines remains uncertain, with potential suitors Manchester United in the mix for the Englishman. Should Baines leave Goodison Park, a move for Oviedo would be in Everton’s best interest.

The 22-year-old Costa Rica international is rated at £2 million (€2.5 million) by the Danish Superliga giants.

Julio Cesar set for San Siro exit

According to Sky Sports, Brazil international goalkeeper Julio Cesar will not play for Italian giants Internazionale Milano next season.

Cesar, a five-time Serie A champion, broke the news on Facebook.

“These have been seven really beautiful years and plenty of them successful,” he wrote.

“But in a few days my adventure with Inter will be at an end. I thank all of you fans for the support you gave me in this time and I wish you every happiness in the future.”

Samir Handanovic, who Inter signed from Udinese earlier this month, is expected to be the No. 1 goalkeeper for the Nerazzurri in 2012-13.

North London is a potential landing sport for Cesar, with Tottenham Hotspur in the market for a goalkeeper.

Spurs have been linked with Olympique Lyonnais shot-stopper Hugo Lloris, but Cesar, 32, could be a cheaper alternative for Andre Villas-Boas’ side.
