Borussia Dortmund full-back Lukasz Piszczek has ended speculation over his future by signing a new contract with the Bundesliga champions.

The 27-year-old has been linked with a host of European clubs in the last 12 months, including Chelsea, Real Madrid and Manchester United.

However, the Poland international has now penned a new deal which will keep him at Signal Iduna Park until 2017, signalling his intent to prolong his career with the German giants.

“It’s a great reward and a great commitment for me to continue playing for an extraordinary club in an extraordinary team,” Piszczek told the club’s official website.

Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc was thrilled after tying down the defender.

“With Lukasz Piszczek we have kept a defensive specialist who was hunted by clubs around Europe. He was a pillar of the success of recent years,” he said.

Piszczek is currently preparing for his side’s Champions League clash with Real Madrid on Tuesday.
