Miralem Pjanic is enjoying a “magic moment” after capping a memorable week with two goals for Roma against Napoli on Friday.
The Bosnia-Herzegovina midfielder was part of the national team’s success in qualifying for next year’s FIFA World Cup earlier in the week, and then rounded off a successful seven days with a double as Roma won their eighth Serie A match in a row with a 2-0 victory over second-placed Napoli at the Stadio Olimpico.
Pjanic’s brace took his season’s tally to three league goals – equalling his haul from the past two campaigns.
He struck the opener with a sweetly-struck free-kick in first-half stoppage time, and then secured the points for Rudi Garcia’s men with a penalty after Paolo Cannavaro had brought down Marco Borriello.
And the 23-year-old admitted it had been a special week, adding that he hopes Roma can keep up their remarkable run of form.
“It is a magic moment for me and I hope to continue like this,” Pjanic told Sky Sport Italia.
“Last season I trained well, yet I struggled to find playing time at the start.
“Every coach has his vision and in the end I worked hard to earn my space.”
Roma’s victory moved them five points clear at the top of Serie A, with Juventus able to close the gap back to two by beating Fiorentina on Sunday.
