French, Recreativo Huelva and former Liverpool striker Florent Sinama-Pongolle has commented on the racist abuse that was hurled at him in their defeat by Atletico Madrid at the Calderon.
He said that he couldnt understand why people had to insult people of other races. He added that the abuse was disappointing and upsetting.
Referee for the match Miguel Angel Perez Lasa reported the incident in his match report. He said that the crowd had made monkey noises every time the player had neared the stands.
The striker has also been linked with a move to Atletico in the summer.
This is not the first time that such incidents have occurred at the stadium and a number of fines have already been issued.
