Pochettino ´to quit Southampton if Cortese leaves´

Mauricio Pochettino will quit Southampton if chairman Nicola Cortese leaves the club, according to reports.

The Argentine was a surprise replacement for Nigel Adkins in January and has guided the club to 14th position in the Premier League with one game to spare.

However, speculation is mounting that if Cortese’s discussions with the club’s owners regarding a new contract and the development of the club result in the Italian walking away from St Mary’s, Pochettino will follow him out of the door.

Pochettino has won four and drawn six of the 15 games he has taken charge of at the club, overcoming the initial uncertainty about his appointment among the the club’s fans following the departure of popular boss Adkins, who has since joined Reading.
