Podolski frustrated by lack of playing time at Arsenal

Arsenal F.C. forward Lukas Podolski is growing frustrated by his lack of first-team football at the Emirates Stadium, and will consider his options when the transfer window re-opens in January.

Since arriving from FC Köln in 2012, the Germany international, 29, has struggled to establish himself as a regular starter under Arsene Wenger.

“Definitely, I cannot be satisfied with the situation I am in at Arsenal,” Podolski said.

“I have not been in negotiations with other clubs, nor have I told Arsenal that I am looking to leave.

“I have just said how the situation is for me. I am under contract at Arsenal and I am unable to say, ‘I am off.’

“I am going to think things over soon as it’s going to be winter time.”

Podolski has yet to start an English Premier League match this season… In three substitute appearances, the 29-year-old has spent just over 38 minutes on the pitch.

However, with Mesut Ozil having been ruled out for up to 12 weeks with a knee injury, Podolski could regain a first-team place on the left-side of Wenger’s 4-2-3-1.

In this scenario, Santi Cazorla would likely replace Ozil in the No. 10 role, while Alexis Sanchez or Alex-Oxlade Chamberlain would start on the right, and Danny Welbeck as the No. 9.

That said, Wenger might fancy to include both Alexis and Oxlade-Chamberlain, and perhaps rightly so. The Gunners have found it unusually difficult to create goal-scoring opportunities, which may lead Wenger to prefer pace in wide areas.

Mendes: Ronaldo will retire at Real Madrid

The agent of Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo, Jorge Mendes, has revealed it would be ‘impossible’ for Manchester United to sign the reigning World Player of the Year from Real Madrid.

Increasing speculation had suggested United had a chance to land the Portuguese sensation next summer or later, but the 29-year-old’s agent has moved to rubbish the possibility of that actually happening.

“Cristiano holds United dear to his heart because he was there six years. But now he just thinks of Real Madrid and he will always be there, and he is thrilled,” Mendes told Elpartidodelas12.

“People know that it is impossible to get Cristiano Ronaldo to leave Real Madrid.

“Ronaldo is the best player ever. He keeps improving and while he has affection towards Manchester United, he wants to stay at Real Madrid.

“He is happy there, he has a great relationship with the president, and has a long contract: he will retire at Real Madrid.

“There won’t be any player as good as him for the next 500 years.”

It is difficult to disagree with any of Mendes’ comments, but only time will tell if Ronaldo will return to Old Trafford at some time in the near or distant future.
