Podolski ready for Arsenal return

Lukas Podolski is set to return to Arsenal for the final year of his contract, according to the Metro.

The Germany international spent the second half of last season on loan at Inter Milan having fallen down the pecking order at the Emirates Stadium.

He turned out for Inter eighteen times, though his one and only goal for the club came in the 2-1 win over Udinese in April.

Prior to his switch to the Serie A side, Podolski had made just seven league appearances for the Gunners – all of which coming as a substitute.

In total, he has turned out for the North London outfit eight-two times, scoring thirty-one goals, and was part of the squad that won the FA Cup in the 2013/14 campaign.

Podolski is in line to win his one hundred and twenty-fourth cap when World Champions Germany take on the USA in a friendly on Wednesday evening.
