Lukas Podolski is to end his unhappy spell at Bayern Munich by moving back to Cologne in summer. The German international is supposedly on the verge of penning a four-year contract worth €3m a year, while the transfer fee for Bayern is in the area of €10m.

Bayern Munich’s general manager, Uli Hoeness, acknowledged that a deal was very likely. He said yesterday “I think that on Monday the transfer will take place”.
