Porto join race for Chedjou

Porto are the latest club to have joined the chase for Lille defender Aurelien Chedjou, according to A Bola.

The Portuguese giants have been keeping close tabs on the Cameroon international for over two years, and they finally seem ready to step up their interest.

With star defender Eliaquim Mangala widely tipped to leave Estadio do Dragao in the summer, the Dragons might need to sign a new centre-back for the 2013/2014 season.

Porto seem to have made Aurelien Chedjou their number one target, but the problem is other European giants are also keen. Valencia and Juventus are some of the high-profile clubs believed to be showing interest in the experienced defender.

After spending last six years at Lille, the 27-year-old is ready to leave the club at the end of the campaign and he recently admitted he was looking for a new challenge.

The player, who has made 145 league appearances for Lille, has a contract until June 2016, meaning the he won’t be sold on the cheap.
