Portugal and Mexico lock horns at Otkrytiye Arena in the third/four place playoffs of the Confederations Cup on Sunday afternoon. Portugal are favourites to come out on top as they’re still unbeaten in the competition and boast a much better defensive record than their opponents.

Fernando Santos’ Portugal side qualified for the Confederations Cup after winning the 2016 European Championships and have impressed in this summer’s tournament – albeit falling short in the semi-finals on penalties to Chile. In the group stage, Portugal picked up seven points from a possible nine and picked up their third clean sheet against Chile, suffering from nerves in the shootout.

As for their opposition, Juan Carlos Osorio’s Mexico side finished second to Portugal in Group A but had the same amount of points. However, they conceded twice as many goals in the three goals and shipped a further four in the semi-finals. As a result, the South Americans are underdogs at the Otkrytiye Arena and could end up finishing fourth this weekend.

Bet 365 are giving odds of 5/4 for Portugal to win against Mexico in 90 minutes.
