Poyet hopeful on Borini

Sunderland manager Gus Poyetis confident that he will be able to agree a deal to sign Fabio Borini from Liverpool by the end of the month, according to the Daily Star.

The one time Italy international had a successful spell on Wearside last season, scoring ten goals in forty appearances in all competitions, including a conciliation strike in the 3-1 League Cup final defeat to Manchester City at Wembley back in March.

Liverpool paid Roma around £10.5m to secure the 23 year old’s services in the summer of 2012 though he made just ten starts for the club in the 2012/13 campaign before being shipped out on loan while his one and only senior international appearance came as a substitute in a friendly defeat to the United States prior to his switch to Anfield.

Sunderland kick off the new campaign with a trip to West Bromwich Albion tomorrow afternoon, and they can be backed at 5/2 for the win.
