Winless West Brom head to Fulham on Saturday, still looking to score their first Premier League goal of the season.
Steve Clarke’s side have endured a tough start to the new campaign, failing to find the net while taking just one point from their first three games.
And the West Midlands outfit are unlikely to be looking forward to their trip to Craven Cottage, having lost on five of their last six Premier League visits – including a 3-0 reverse in the corresponding fixture last season.
They will, however, be buoyed by the fact that Fulham have lost their last five home matches in the top flight.
Clarke made numerous additions to his squad in the closing stages of the transfer window, with Morgan Amalfitano, Victor Anichebe and Stephane Sessegnon all arriving on deadline day.
And the Scot is confident this trio will boost the quality of his squad and lift West Brom off the foot of the table sooner rather than later.
“We’re definitely in a better place as a squad – we’re stronger and competitive,” he said.
“We’ve got some good players in and hopefully that will show very quickly in the results.”
All three new signings could make their debuts at Craven Cottage, but Clarke will be without first-choice goalkeeper Ben Foster, who is out for at least another two months with a fractured foot.
On-loan striker Matej Vydra (hamstring) and utility man Steven Reid (knock) are also sidelined, while midfielder James Morrison (groin) is doubtful.
Fulham sit two points above West Brom in the table by virtue of their opening-day win at Sunderland, but followed up the victory with defeats at home to Arsenal and away to Newcastle United.
Deadline-day recruit Elsad Zverotic could make his debut at right-back if Sascha Riether is unavailable after picking up a knock in the loss at St James’ Park, while goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg faces a late fitness test on a shoulder problem.
Kieran Richardson (hamstring) is still out, but Alexander Kacaniklic and Fernando Amorebieta could be in line for a return to Martin Jol’s first-team plans after playing for Sweden and Venezuela respectively during the international break.
