Norwich City and Tottenham Hotspur will aim to make amends for shock FA Cup exits when they meet in the English Premier League on Wednesday.

Norwich became the first top-flight team to be eliminated by a non-league side in the FA Cup for 24 years following a 1-0 loss to Luton Town at Carrow Road on Saturday.

Tottenham faced a tougher task against Leeds United, but went down 2-1 against the Championship club at Elland Road.

“Norwich also had a disappointing result in the FA Cup and we’re both in a situation we didn’t want to be in,” Tottenham winger Gareth Bale told the club website.

“I’m sure both teams will want to bounce back and we’ll be looking to get the three points. Hopefully we’ll go there and repeat what we did last season.”

Bale has scored three times in his last two trips to Carrow Road, including both goals in Tottenham’s 2-0 victory over Norwich in the corresponding match last season.

Tottenham, fourth on the table and unbeaten in seven league games, have won four of their past six league visits to Norwich, who have slumped to 13th place with just one point in six matches.

Norwich manager Chris Hughton is expected to make a host of changes after resting several key players against Luton, with Grant Holt, Alexander Tettey, Michael Turner, Mark Bunn and Robert Snodgrass set to return.

Wes Hoolahan and Anthony Pilkington could also be recalled after coming on as substitutes in the last two matches, while Sebastien Bassong may face his former club after recovering from a calf injury.

Tottenham will give Jermain Defoe every chance to prove his fitness following a pelvic injury, meaning Clint Dempsey could continue up front in the absence of any other recognised strikers.

The rested Hugo Lloris and Mousa Dembele should replace Brad Friedel and Tom Huddlestone, and German international Lewis Holtby could be handed a Tottenham debut after signing from Bundesliga club Schalke this week.
