Premier League preview: Norwich v Bolton

Norwich City host a Bolton side desperate to move further clear of the English Premier League’s relegation zone on Saturday.

Paul Lambert’s men have performed above expectations this campaign, sitting 11th despite a 3-0 loss to Sunderland on Wednesday.

In contrast, Bolton are lingering just above the drop zone, although they are unbeaten in their last four outings in all competitions.

Manager Owen Coyle was thrilled his team collected a point in a 0-0 draw against Arsenal, and they must build on that performance in the clash against Norwich.

But they travel to Carrow Road, where Norwich have lost just three times in 11 outings.

The heaviness of the defeat to Sunderland would have surprised Lambert, but he is remaining confident his team will bounce back.

“I’m confident we can pick ourselves us. I’ve got no worries about that,” he said after Wednesday’s loss.

“We take the disappointment, mull over it and Saturday will be on us before we know it.”

Steve Morison (eight goals) and Grant Holt (seven) have impressed up front, with the latter attracting interest from Scottish Premier League champions Rangers.

Lambert has nearly a full squad to choose from, with only recent signing Jonathan Howson, who joined from Leeds United, and goalkeeper Declan Rudd likely to be absent.

While Bolton have struggled in front of their home fans at the Reebok Stadium, they have four wins from 11 on their away league trips.

A regular goalscorer has been hard to find in recent weeks, with Croatian Ivan Klasnic – who has been troubled by injury – and Kevin Davies both spending time on the bench.

David N’Gog has been handed the responsibilities up front, but Bolton’s goals have come from several different outlets recently.

Coyle has rued his injuries throughout the campaign and he is again likely to be without Marcos Alonso, Ricardo Gardner, Lee Chung-Yong, Stuart Holden and Sean Davis.

When the sides met in September, Norwich took a 2-1 win from the Reebok, and they could settle in the top half of the table if they can repeat that success.
