Daily Express has learned that Newcastle and Southampton are showing interest in Anderlecht starlet Cheikhou Kouyate.
The 23-year-old has been putting in some very good performances for the Belgian giants and he looks set to leave in the summer.
Kouyate, who can play in defence and midfield, has caught the eye of a number of Premier League sides and is widely tipped to move to England at the end of the current campaign.
For the time being, Newcastle and Southampton appear to be leading the race, but Manchester City and Arsenal were also keen in the past.
The Senegalese joined Anderlecht from Kortrijk in 2009 and quickly developed into an important member of the side.
He has since made a total of 114 league appearances for the club, scoring 3 goals in the process. Kouyate featured for Senegal Under-23 side at the Summer Olympics in London, making four appearances at the tournament.
