Braga secured a 2-0 victory over Pacos de Ferreira in the Primeira Liga’s opening fixture on Friday.
Goals in either half from Paulo Vinicius and Felipe Pardo were enough to clinch the three points and give Braga a perfect start before the rest of the league play on Saturday and Sunday.
Jesualdo Ferreira’s men went ahead after 26 minutes thanks to Vinicius’ header.
The midfielder connected well with an Alan cross to power his effort home, leaving Matias Degra with no chance.
That is how it stayed until half-time and it took until the 65th minute for the visitors to double their lead.
Pardo was the man to get on the scoresheet thanks to a powerful strike which flew past a helpless Degra.
The Colombian winger cut inside his marker and drove home from a narrow angle.
The scoring stopped there, with Braga taking the three points against Pacos for the first time since December 2011.
