Porto have clinched their 27th league title win following a routine 2-0 victory against Pacos Ferreira on Sunday.
However, goals from Lucho Gonzalez and Jackson Martinez meant the visitors cruised to victory in a match which saw both sides reduced to 10 men.
Ricardo and Danilo were both dismissed but despite the loss, Pacos finish third and have a place in next season’s UEFA Champions League.
Benfica did all they could to snatch the title from Porto but their 3-1 win over Moreirense was not enough to eradicate the costly defeat to Pererira’s side last week.
However, Benfica’s win did have big consequences at the bottom of the table as Oscar Cardozo’s goal plus a double from Lima officially relegated Moreirense after a season of struggle.
Joining Augusto Inacio’s team in the Liga de Honra next season will be Beira Mar, who suffered a 4-1 home defeat to Lisbon’s other side, Sporting.
Adrien Silva and Norwich City-bound Ricky van Wolfswinkel both scored twice to cancel out Ruben’s goal but Sporting’s comfortable triumpj was not enough to secure European football as they finished three points behind fifth-placed Estoril following their 3-1 win at Gil Vicente.
Olhanense survived the drop but left their fate down to chance after they could only draw 0-0 at home to Maritimo, while Vitoria Setubal also had to rely on other results as they were defeated by visitors Sporting Braga, who consolidated their place in fourth.
Closer to the middle of the table Nacional edged out Academica 2-1 thanks to Ladji Keita’s 64th-minute goal and over-achieving Rio Ave picked up an away win against Guimaraes to finish in a highly-respectable sixth place.
