PSG open talks for French goal machine

Paris Saint-Germain have shown interest in Lorient striker Kevin Gameiro, according to Le Parisien.

The Saints chiefs have reportedly met with the player’s representatives few days ago to discuss the possible transfer and they are expected to launch an official offer for the diminutive striker.

The French international was close to making a switch to Valencia in January, but the deal fell through.

However, the Ligue 1 joint top scorer is expected to leave Lorient at the end of the season as les Bretons look highly unlikely to resist big money offers that are bound to arrive in the summer.

Gameiro is reportedly keen on a move to Parc des Princes, but only if PSG secure Champions League football, which means the Saints will have to wait until the end of the season to see if they have a chance to sign the 24-year-old.

The Saints are now two points behind the Champions League places but with a game in hand, meaning they stand a good chance of beating Lyon to the third place in the standings.

Valencia, Newcastle and Tottenham are also keen on the player who has scored 49 league goals during the three seasons at Lorient.
