PSG open talks for Rooney

French newspaper L’Equipe understands that Paris Saint-Germain are stepping up their efforts to sign Manchester United star Wayne Rooney.

The England international recently revealed that he planned to leave Old Trafford at the end of the current campaign and the French giants have wasted no time.

According to L’Equipe, they have already started negotiations with the player’s agents with a view of luring the forward to Parc des Princes.

Wayne Rooney has a contract until June 2015 with the Red Devils and a €100 million clause inserted in his deal, but the Saints, nonetheless, believe they can reach an agreement with Manchester United.

The 27-year-old has been unhappy with his treatment this season and in turn decided to leave Old Trafford after nine years at the club.

Since joining the Red Devils in a €37 million move from Everton, Rooney has clocked up 278 Premier League appearances, scoring 141 goals.
