A day after the departure of Huub Stevens at PSV, the club announced that assistant Dwight Lodeweges has been appointed as caretaker manager while a permanent replacement is being found.

Lodeweges, who spent part of his training career in Japan and the middle-east, first became assistant at PSV’s U-19 team in 2007 and climbed up to the first team a year later.

Rumours linked former Barcelona boss Frank Rijkaard with the reigning Dutch champions, although his arrival seems unlikely. Other names mentioned are Ronald Koeman and Sef Vergoossen.
