Pulis calls for focus ahead of Tottenham clash

SoccerNews in English Premier League 10 May 2013

Stoke City boss Tony Pulis wants his players to fully focus on the job at hand when they face Tottenham at the Britannia Stadium on Sunday.

The club is to celebrate its 150th anniversary at the weekend and will put on a host of events to mark the occasion.
Appearances from the likes of Geoff Hurst and Gordon Banks are scheduled and while Pulis wants it to be an enjoyable day for the fans, he is keen to ensure his squad are prepared for the game.
Stoke sit in 11th place, within touching distance of a top half finish, and Pulis says he wants his side to go all out for three points against Andre Villas-Boas’ men.
He said: “We’re hoping we can put in a good performance. It’s a big game for us as we celebrate the 150th anniversary of the football club
“The club has a lot of stuff going on around the game but what we have to do is concentrate on giving Tottenham a run for their money.
“The celebrations will be good for the crowd but we won’t see any of it – we’ll be preparing in the dressing room.
“The big thing for us is to concentrate on the game and let everyone else enjoy the occasion.”
A win for Stoke could see them move into the top half, while Tottenham need three points to keep their hopes of UEFA Champions League qualification alive, and Pulis says his side will not be looking to sit back.
“The important thing for me is the 90 minutes. When the whistle goes the supporters will want the players to be right on it and taking the game to Tottenham,” he said.
