The Czech Republic’s World Cup qualifying campaign got off to a sluggish start as they had to settle for a goalless draw away to Northern Ireland in Group 3 on Wednesday amid abysmal playing conditions.
Radoslav Kovac missed early on with a free header for the visitors while David Healy and Keith Gillespie also had chances go begging for Northern Ireland.
The best chance of the half came right before half-time when Milan Baros’ header went just wide of Maik Taylor’s goalpost.
Both sides had their share of half chances in the second half, but in the end the match would end in a stalemate.
