FC Porto beat Arsenal 2-0 to conquer the top spot in Group G, while Dynamo Kiev’s narrow win over Fenerbahce is enough for the Ukranians to qualify for a UEFA Cup spot.
Arsenal went into this game with the idea to defend their group lead but the Gunners failed to accomplish.
The first goal of the match, played at Porto’s O Dragao stadium, was scored by Bruno Alves in the 39th minute. Lisandro Lopez netted the second nine minutes after the break and this comfortable gap was enough for the home side to take the victory and finish first in this group.
Dynamo Kiev required a point to keep Fenerbahce away from their third place and the Ukranians earned three instead. The only goal in Kiev was scored by Eremenko after 20 minutes.
As a result, Dynamo have six points more than the Turks and advance to the UEFA Cup.
