(GSM) – CSKA Moscow are trough to the quarter finals of the UEFA Champions League following a 1-2 win at Sevilla on Tuesday. The first leg ended 1-1.
Sevilla had the first good chance of the match on 17 minutes as a volley from Luis Fabiano forced keeper Igor Akinfeev to make a great save.
The Russians came close in the 34th minute with newly signed Keisuke Honda ready to score but Federico Fazio made a late tackle to clear the danger.
CSKA did score five minutes later, as Honda delivered the ball to Tomas Necid who went on to beat keeper Palop with a low shot into the corner.
Their lead would not last however as Sevilla drew level just two minutes later with Diego Perotti converting a Jesus Navas cross for 1-1.
But ten minutes into the second half it was CSKA’s Honda to put the visiting side ahead once again, with a left-footed free kick that was too powerful for Palop to block. With this goal, CSKA secured the away advantage and forced Sevilla to score two more.
CSKA would not concede another goal and as such won the tie 3-2 on aggregate.
