Germany earned a hard-fought win over Wales on Wednesday to defend their first spot in Group 4 of the European World Cup qualifiers.
After a goalless first half, the Germans did eventually take the victory thanks to a goal from Piotr Trochowski in the 72nd minute.
The result of this match, which was played at Mönchengladbach’s Borussia Park, allows Germany to extend their lead in this group.
Joachim Löw’s men now have ten points from four games, four points more than Russia and Wales. Russia do have a game in hand.
