Race hots up for Banega; Suso talks up Porto move

hot-transfer-newsRace hots up for Banega

AC Milan are the latest high-profile club to have joined the race for Valencia midfielder Ever Banega, Il Corriere dello Sport has learned.

The Argentina international is widely tipped to leave Mestalla this summer, and he will have no shortage of offers according to the latest reports.

Le 10 Sport is suggesting that Marseille, Everton, Tottenham and Sunderland are all keen, with Valencia reportedly already receiving two official proposals for the player’s services.

Italian giants AC Milan seem to be in the mix as well, seeing as how new boss Filippo Inzaghi believes the Argentine would be a perfect replacement for captain Riccardo Montolivo, who is set to miss around 7 months of action through a broken leg.

Ever Banega surprisingly lost his place in the starting line-up at Mestalla, but he enjoyed a good six-month loan spell with Newell’s Old Boys.

The 25-year-old was included in Alejandro Sabella’s provisional World Cup squad, but he did not make the final cut.

Suso talks up Porto move

Liverpool midfielder Suso has suggested that he would like to join FC Porto in the summer transfer window.

The 20-year-old has just a couple of weeks left on his deal at Anfield and it remains to be seen if the club will offer him a contract extension.

But, having enjoyed a very successful season while on loan at Almeria, the youngster admits he is ready to quit the Reds if he is not guaranteed first team football.

And with FC Porto showing interest in his services, Suro claims a move to Estadio do Dragao appeals to him.

“I stand by what I said: My priority is to stay at Liverpool, but to play, and, if not, a move to Porto would be a great option to continue my career,” the Spaniard told O Jogo.

After making 14 Premier League appearances for Liverpool during his debut season, Suro joined Almeria on loan last summer and went on to score 3 goals in 33 La Liga outings.

Monaco told to pay up for Patricio

Ligue 1 outfit Monaco have been informed they will have to delve deep into their pockets if they want to sign Sporting Lisbon goalkeeper Rui Patricio, according to A Bola.

The Principality club seem to have given up on Victor Valdes due to his injury problems and they are turning their attention to the Portugal international.

Sporting Lisbon are prepared to cash in on their star player, but they have informed Monaco it would take around €15 million to get their man.

Rui Patricio has spent his entire career up to date at Estadio Jose Alvalade, making a total of 195 league appearances for the Lions.

He has been repeatedly linked with a move away from the club in recent months and it looks as though he will be leaving this summer.

Patricio, 26, is expected to be in the starting line-up later today when Portugal face Germany in their opening World Cup match, with the Seleccao 16/5 shot to claim maximum points.
