Premier League outfit Manchester United are facing increased competition in their efforts to sign Swiss striker Breel Embolo.
Highly rated FC Basel striker has been a target for several clubs vying for his signature during the summer transfer window and Manchester United have been made favourites to acquire the services of this talented youngster.
However, according to German paper Kicker, Manchester United’s attempts are likely to be thwarted by Schalke, who have entered the race for Embolo, who is seen as perfect replacement for Leroy Sane, who looks set to become a Manchester City player this summer.
Breel Embrolo is currently at the 2016 European Championship finals with Switzerland and his future is not likely to be resolved until the end of competition.
FC Basel are thought to be looking for a fee in excess of €25 million for the talented forward.
The 19-year-old Swiss striker made ten appearances for FC Basel in the Super League last season, scoring five goals during that time.
