Radamel Falcao would be the perfect signing for Chelsea

Colombian striker Radamel Falcao is being linked with a big money move to Chelsea

Chelsea brought in a host of attacking midfielders this summer, but the Blues didn’t bring in a striker.

Chelsea boss Roberto Di Matteo’s attacking options are very limited at the moment with just Fernando Torres and Daniel Sturridge available as striking options.

The season is going to be a long one and the lack of striking options available to Di Matteo could prove to be the difference between success and failure for the Blues this season.

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich spent big this summer, but all the money spent seemed to have been spent on those aforementioned attacking midfielders.

One man that has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge is Atletico Madrid striker Radamel Falcao. The Colombian international has been prolific since joining Atletico from Porto and is now regarded as one of the best number nines in world football.

His clinical finishing has made him one of the most in-demand players in the world. Falcao seems like the perfect striker at the moment and he guarantees goals when he is on the pitch.

The 26 year-old has already struck seven goals in just five appearances in La Liga this season, carrying on his superb scoring form from last season. He also caught the eye by scoring a hat-trick against Chelsea in Atletico’s 4-1 European Super Cup victory.

Falcao has revealed his desire to play in the English top flight at some stage of his career. He Told the Times: “England? One day, I could go. It is a game I have watched for a long time and one day I would like to sample it.

“I used to watch it on television when I was a kid. Players like Roy Keane, Eric Cantona, (Gianfranco) Zola. But the one I supported was (Faustino) Asprilla, when he was at Newcastle. I think I could adapt to England. I think I could score goals.”

According to reports Falcao has a minimum fee release clause in his contract believed to be 45 million Euros. Atletico obviously don’t want to lose their star striker, but if somebody meets his supposed release clause then they won’t have much option but to sell the striker.

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has spent an absolute fortune on improving the Chelsea squad in his tenure at the club. However, he still seems intent on keeping the Blues at the top level of English and European football.

I’m sure that Abramovich will be tempted to give Chelsea boss Roberto Di Matteo the cash to bring in a striker in January. If he does I think that Falcao will have to be high on the Blues transfer wishlist.

Chelsea are unlikely to face much competition for Falcao’s signature because there are very few clubs that can compete with them financially. The likes of Manchester city and French giants PSG could compete with the Blues, but neither seem interested in the signing the striker.

With Roberto Di Matteo trying to rebuild his Chelsea squad Radamel Falcao could be a very big piece in his Chelsea jigsaw. Torres has been in better form this season, but the presence of Falcao at the club wouldn’t harm Chelsea’s chances of success at all.

If Roberto Di Matteo is giving the funds to sign the Colombian striker then he really has to snap up the prolific frontman. Signing Radamel Falcao would also be a signal of intent from Chelsea that they really do mean business this season.

Would Radamel Falcao be a good signing for Chelsea?

Is this a rhetorical question or are you for real? CFC missed a chance to sign him for less before he went to atletico. Hopefully they do not miss him again. He in combination with Torres or Sturridge or Lukaku will be a load that will give any defense massive migraines, the type that will make CFC fans smile.

I think radamel falcao is a verry good player for now ….but i still thing d amount is too expensive to buy somebody like falcao…
