Monaco have completed the loan signing of Fabinho from Portuguese side Rio Ave.
The 19-year-old started his career in the youth side of Paulinia before spending a year at Fluminese.
He signed for Rio Ave in 2011 before joining Real Madrid on a temporary basis a year later, where he played mainly in the Spanish side’s B team.
However, Rafinha made his first-team debut for the La Liga giants in their 6-2 win over Malaga in May.
A statement on Monaco’s website read: “AS Monaco is pleased to announce the arrival to the first-team of Fabio Henrique Tavares (Fabinho).
“(He is a) 19-year-old Brazilian right back who has evolved to Fluminese and Real Madrid.
“Fabinho is loaned for one season from Portuguese club Rio Ave.”
Elsewhere, the Ligue 1 new-boys are set to complete the permanent signing of Siena goalkeeper Gianluca Pegolo.
The Italian club’s sporting director Stefano Antonelli told Sport Italia: “The transfer talks are close to completion. I think it will be done by the end of the week.”
Pegolo, 32, is about to enter the final year of his contract, and will be allowed to leave after Siena suffered relegation from Serie A season.
