Rakitic never imagined leaving Barcelona

During a recent interview with Marca, Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitic revealed that he never imagined leaving the club during the summer. The 30 year old, who was a World Cup runner up earlier this year in Russia with Croatia, was heavily linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain. Alas, it never came to fruition, with Rakitic being one of the many, many midfielders linked to the French champions in the last few weeks of the transfer window.

Rakitic stated that he did take some time to reflect on the whole thing but decided it was best to stay put, as he also referenced how happy his wife and child are in Spain. PSG were said to be interested in making a €90 million offer for Rakitic, although it remains to be seen as to whether or not Barca would’ve accepted that or just kept Rakitic at the club, considering just how valuable he is.
