Rangers have offered 26 year old Scottish keeper Allan McGregor a lucrative five-year deal to commit his future to Ibrox.
McGregor signed a new three-year agreement with the club only nine months ago but Rangers moved to ward off suitors after their number one was linked with an £8 million switch to Spurs or Newcastle.
According to the Daily Record, chairman David Murray tabled the contract, which is believed to be worth around £20,000 a week, following three hours of talks with the Scotland star late last week.
This is a drastic improvement for a player who the rerpot claims was earning only £1200 a week, just two seasons ago. McGregor had an outstanding campaign last season, helping Rangers to capture the Scottish League Cup until an ankle injury at Parkhead in April ended his season. It remains to be seen if the player is willing to commit his future to the club.
