Reading sign Yakubu

Reading have completed the surprise signing of former Portsmouth and Everton striker Yakubu, according to the Metro.

The 32 year old, who has most recently been plying his trade with Qatari side Al Rayyan, has joined the Championship side until the end of the season.

Yakubu first arrived in England in 2003 when he moved to Portsmouth on loan, before singing for the club permanently in the May of that year.

He went on to have spells with Middlesbrough, Everton, Leicester City and Blackburn Rovers before moving to China in the summer of 2012.

Internationally he has won fifty-seven caps for Nigeria, scoring twenty-one goals while he featured for the Super Eagles at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

Reading, who beat Sheffield Wednesday last time out currently sit in sixteenth place in the second tier, thirteen points of the play-off places and can be backed at 11/4 to win at Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday.
