Spanish newspaper AS understands that Real Madrid are set to complete the signing of Real Sociedad midfielder Asier Illarramendi.
The 23-year-old has enjoyed an impressive season at Anoeta, and he has in turn seen his name linked with top European clubs.
According to AS, Real Madrid are looking to beat other interested clubs to the player’s signature and they could even meet the midfielder’s €30 million release clause.
Los Blancos chiefs see Illarramendi as a perfect long-term replacement for Xabi Alonso, who also came through the youth ranks at Real Sociedad.
The talented footballer has asked for his future to be resolved before 11th July, when he is due to report for training at Anoeta, which is why los Merengues officials are looking to speed up the negotiations.
Illarramendi has developed into one of the best holding midfielders in La Liga, and has so far made 54 league appearances for La Real.
