Real keeping tabs on former academy duo

Real Madrid have shown interest in Villarreal midfielder Borja Valero and Espanyol winger Jose Callejon, according to Marca.

This would be just another transfer story if it wasn’t for the fact that the two players went through Real’s own youth academy before moving elsewhere.

Jose Mourinho was impressed with Villarreal midfielder Borja Valero after watching him in action at Santiago Bernabeu and he could move for the player if he fails to lure Cesc Fabregas to Madrid.

The only problem could be the player’s €40 million release clause, although Valero recently stated he was honoured by Real interest.

Los Merengues are also keen on Espanyol winger Jose Callejon, who’s been in impressive form this season.

Callejon is also Real Madrid graduate, having played 40 games and scored 21 goals for Real Madrid B before moving to Espanyol.

However, he should be much easier to sign than Valero as Real have the option to buy the player back for just €8 million.
