Real Madrid have confirmed the signing of Racing Satander defender Ezequiel Garay.

Presiden of Real Madird, Ramón Calderón, said: “We paid 10 million euros in cash for Garay - a player on whom we are very keen.

“This also demonstrates, moreover, the good economic standing of our club.”

The signing took place less than 24 hours after collecting their league trophy, and Real Madrid have not ruled out loaning the Argentine defender back to Racing next season.

Spanish newspaper Marca reported that the 21-year-old Garay had agreed to a six-year contract with the Spanish champions.
