Portugal international Pepe is edging near the end of his contract with Real Madrid.

The experienced defender will not be offered a new deal at Santiago Bernabeu and Los Blancos are already preparing a list of potential successors of the long-serving centre-back.

As reported by Spanish media outlet AS, Real Madrid have identified FC Porto defender Felipe Monteiro as the top transfer target for the summer.

The Brazilian international is believed to have already made a verbal agreement with La Liga giants and Real Madrid are expected to approach the Portuguese club to close the deal for the 27-year-old.

Felipe Monteiro is contracted to FC Porto until 30 June 2021 and his release clause is standing at €50 million. However, AS reports that Portugal giants are willing to let their player leave for a significantly lower amount that would be somewhere between €25 and €30 million.

Felipe Monteiro has made 24 Primeira Liga appearances for Porto, while he also managed to get his name on the score sheet twice this season.
