Real Madrid line up Alonso replacement

Spanish newspaper Marca is reporting that Real Madrid are considering a bid for Sevilla starlet Geoffrey Kondogbia.

It is no secret los Merengues are looking for a long-term replacement for Xabi Alonso, who is set to enter the final year of his deal at Santiago Bernabeu.

They have been linked with a number of players in the past few months, but Marca has suggested that Sevilla’s Geoffrey Kondogbia has been elected as the most suitable successor to the Spain international.

The Frenchman has largely impressed in a holding midfielder role since joining the club from Nantes, and he has seen his name linked with a number of Europe’s top clubs.

Due to the difficult financial situation, Sevilla may have no choice but to cash in on their star player in the summer, with Real ready to pounce.

Kondogbia, 20, has featured in 25 La Liga matches this term and scored the only goal of the campaign in a 3-0 home win over Granada.

  1. Edgar says:

Well, there’s also Veratti as a possible replacement for Xabi Alonso.

Let’s see, there are two different players that Madrid club think can be the next Xabi – Veratti and Kondogbia.

Veratti is more of a game creator, just like the Spanish and for both this role is actually their biggest strength. They both make amazing passes and see everything. At this aspect Veratti’s a better choice.

Geoffrey Kondogbia, on the other hand, is stronger and gives more chance at free kicks and corners. He also seems to be better defensively.

Well, to me, the French is more of a replacement for Khedira than Alonso. Real doesn’t need another game creator as they have Luka Modric who’s also amazing. I’d go for Kondogbia.

  2. miguel vargas says:

Real Madrid should just use their reserve players but if there going to buy a new center mid they should go for de rossi….he can defend create plays and score thats what they need from a midfielder. They have to many offensive players and need to concentrate on defense. So my top 3 players that madrid should go for are de rossi, lampard(won’t sign again with chelsea), and capoue

  3. Edgar says:

De Rossi’s amazing but I’m almost sure he won’t leave Roma. There’s been a couple of big clubs that tried to buy him and all of them failed. Of course he might change his mind…

Lampard wouldn’t be a good choice, he’s already 34 so they should look for younger guys.

A agree with you on Capoue but it seems he’s already in talks with PSG and about to sign a deal with them.

  4. Mourinho says:

    Or j.moutinho, wilshere, witsel

  5. Edgar says:

If Wilshere stops being injury prone, then I might agree with you in 100% :D

  6. Mourinho says:

    TruexD

    Or
Casemiro from sao paulo( loaned out at reals b team(

  7. abass says:

I think real Madrid should go for bale and nana. Also they must try and put back kaka on the field. He is realli good.

  8. abass says:

    I mean nani, not nana

  9. moshe sa says:

i think they should go for ever banega or marchisio

  10. De rossi, dembele, paulinho might do for real madrid.

  11. alonso did well as a defensive midfielder so the only trick is to bring an offensive midfield dynamo.the likes of parker, lucas leiva, sandro, and perhaps bring back lass.Another option is to persuade essien to stay rather than leave for chelsea

  12. Mourinhosh says:

    But knowin mourinho wil leave
Te chances of essien staying go down big time
He only came bccs of mou.

  13. mac says:

Mouriho is just a confused man, this is the down fall of chelsea

  14. Ab says:

    No mourinho isnt confused
He just isnt being supported by the fans nor protected bu the president( against media)
    He came from clubs
Where he was loved and treated like a fater figure
    And thats where
    He shines most.
Look at porto- treated asa a hero, what does he do make them champions
Look at chelsea how glad they want him back
Look at inter! And al the players he played with
    Essien drogba sneijder
    Etc etc
    They al love
Him like a father and he did great with al the clubs

Why not real?- even though im a big real fan- i must say we fans havnt al done our best job
    Should have suported him more
    Believed in him more,
And mabye if the media woudnt make such a big fuss outa everything
The whole cassilas-mou stuf woudnt have lasted this long, mou would stil be reals coach
And next season we would restart amazingly strong

And what nou? A broken real team- stronger then befire though but not as strog as in 2011-12

    So its a pity

Cheslea are verry lucky in a year or two
Mou wil bring ou the full potention
Outta playrs like lukkaku , hazard, oscar, de bryune, marko
    Marin , courtois etc.
He wil get them rolling again and being in trophies

  15. Ab says:

    And about alonso
    I would bring somone like
Philip couthino, ganso or isco for the more attacking role of midfielder
And mabye miguel veloso, javi martinez
    , ever banega

  16. real madrid please to deal with robin van prise, david villa, david silva, thomus muller

  17. I think Real madrid should go for Bale and a striker and also please put Kaka back on the field he is improving

  18. Jose says:

They should buy vidal as a replacement for xabi

    Dont you agree

  19. crespo says:

Hes a good player but there are far better choices, De rossi, Gundogan, Vermaelen, Vidal, etc.

  20. Bisoye says:

Real should get either Gundogan or Vidal as Alonso’s replacement, both guys are amazing.

  21. sabato says:

For me if real Madrid need some one to replace Alonso l think Mousa Dembele in Tottenham Hotspur will be better replacement thank you all.

  22. Le De Beaux says:

I would say Real Madrid should buy Quaresma, but they have enough offensive players. Maybe Quaresma should go to Liverpool, Chelsea, or Manchester United.

  23. Dani21 says:

I think Vidal would be the best option but he is not going to leave Juventus and Javi Martinez isn’t leaving Bayern either, so I think Gundogan is their best option right now

  24. Bongza says:

Real Should Sign Andile Jali From Pirates(South Africa) Greate Player Both Defensive n Offensive

  25. Fifa Player says:

Real Madrid are buying too many youngsters. But if they buy someone who’s actually a pro they should go for Kevin Prince Boeteng or Arturo Vidal.

  26. one something stupid for real madrid if they are selling alonso,
he is great player,if everyone think that alonso was old is true, but dont forget he constribution for el real so much.
no one could change his position in bernabeu.
i think if new coach of real madrid wants to getting champion next season he had to make him staying.

  27. drillmaster says:

I know there is some wishful thinking from some fans about who they can aquire etc. javi martinez wont be goin anywhere and i’d be surprised if madrid let alonso go. he is very influential indeed

The deep lying playmaker is lost in modern football. Pirlo is the obvious example and perhaps lucas of liverpool. both started their careers as inventive playmakers higher up the pitch. Alonso is a wonderful player too who could easily play other positions but he has been easily one of madrids best performers of recent years and was also well recognised as a elite player in his lfc days. He was the best player in his position for a number of years in my opinion and would be sadly missed by real if they ditch him

  28. drillmaster says:

Javi martinez cost bayern 40 mil and he has been played in a number of positions. at bilbao el loco used him as a centre back using the managers progressive philosophy that at least one centre back should be a playmaker

Bayern have used him mainly as their def mid/playmaker as some top teams with possession based approach can afford a skilled tactician in that position. Well it seems to have worked as in the CL final, he managed to disrupt barcas play with harrying them off the ball amazingly and then when he got it, used it brilliantly to create more attacking. Great player!!! In Confed cup he even played in number 10 role for spain when they were desperate against italy!!!

  29. FIFA EXPERT says:

Real Madrid should get Gundogan and while we’re at it they should get Hummels in the back line.

  30. jack says:

I think they need yaya toure. He can cause order in defence and create opprtunities for attackers. Furtheremore he is so clever. it ‘s not important that this transfer can cost high but they need him badly!!!!

  31. GREGORY O says:

To me i think real madrid should increase their scoop of choice ie. looking at players like victor wanyama of celtic and foward like banze of burkina faso but now in france i think this two hard working players can really do somethe for them

  32. Moey says:

Madrid should replace xavi with luiz
