With Samuel Eto’o heading out the door at Barcelona, Europe’s top clubs have been credited with interest in the Cameroonian. However, it has emerged that Real Madrid’s reported interest in the player had no element of truth behind it.
Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon declared yesterday that the club have not made a move for the club’s former player, nor do they intend to.
“There is no Eto’o case. I do not know where this has come from because, more than anything, it is logical that Barcelona would not sell a player to Real Madrid.
“We have a very strong squad that has just won the league.
“If we do end up signing players, there will be very few and they will be very good,” said Calderon, as reported by The Sun.
The same report goes on to mention that, with Real Madrid pulling out of the race for Eto’o, Tottenham will be the most likely destination for the Barcelona player – although AC Milan have also been credited with interest in the player in yesterday’s version of the same newspaper.
