Real Madrid in talks for Rakitic

Cadena COPE is reporting that Real Madrid are stepping up their interest in Sevilla midfielder Ivan Rakitic.

Los Blancos have been impressed by the Croatian footballer’s recent showings and they plan to add him to their ranks in the summer transfer window.

According to Cadena COPE, Real Madrid officials have already contacted the midfielder’s agents and now plan to open negotiations with Sevilla as well.

Los Blancos hope to sign the Croatia international on a cut-price deal considering that his contract at Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan is due to expire in just over a year.

Rakitic was believed to be ready to sign a new deal despite heavy interest from Spain’s top clubs, but talks over a contract extension seems to have hit a standstill.

As a result, Real Madrid, priced at 5/2 for the league title, plan to take advantage of the situation and lure the 26-year-old to Santiago Bernabeu.
