Real Madrid to activate De Gea’s release clause

A story which was the main transfer topic last summer is getting back on the menu once again with various reports suggesting that David De Gea is ready to quit Manchester United for a summer move to Real Madrid.

Spanish shot stopper was on the verge of a move to Santiago Bernabeu last year when two sides accused each other following a collapsed deal which Manchester United nor Real Madrid wanted to take responsibility for.

However, De Gea’s transfer to Los Blancos is back on agenda with Spanish daily AS reporting of a release clause in Man United goalkeeper’s new contract that was signed at the start of the season. AS claim that Manchester United are obliged to sell David De Gea to Real Madrid for €50 million if Los Blancos submit an offer by June 15.

Should Real Madrid fail to submit an offer in due time, Manchester United will reportedly be free to determine their own price for the player who has been named Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year at Old Trafford.
