Spanish media report that Real Madrid are close to signing Dutch striker Klaas Jan Huntelaar, who currently plays for Ajax Amsterdam.
Real Madrid have been looking for a new forward following the injury that is expected to keep Ruud van Nistelrooy sidelined for the rest of the season.
At this stage, Ajax deny an agreement although the club acknowledge that a transfer might happen during the winter break.
The 25-year-old attracted interest from bigger Dutch club after a very successful spell at SC Heerenveen, and secured a contract with Ajax in 2005. Since, he scored 75 goals in 90 games with the Amsterdam outfit.
If Huntelaar joins the Spanish giants, he is expected to begin playing in January after recovering from an injury. The striker is available for Champions League games if required.
