The 21-year-old Portuguese sensation Gelson Martins has been sending huge shockwaves across the footballing Europe with his scintillating displays for Sporting CP this season.
The highly-rated winger has caught the attention of Manchester United, Bayern Munich and Barcelona, but Portugal media outlet Abola are today claiming that European Champions Real Madrid have also stepped up their efforts to sing the talented youngster.
Real Madrid chiefs are believed to have been impressed with Gelson’s talents since the September UEFA Champions League clash between the two sides at Santiago Bernabeu after which the club’s scouts were assigned to keep close tabs on the player.
Gelson Martins spent 70 minutes on the pitch before making way for Liverpool loanee Lazar Markovic on the night in question.
Tuesday’s reverse duel in Portugal will be another great opportunity for Los Blancos management to get a good look on the potential January transfer target according to Abola.
Gelson has so far made 10 Primeira Liga appearances for Sporting Lisbon, adding two goals to his name.
