Real Madrid’s Robinho: “Premiership clubs want me”

Real Madrid striker Robinho has claimed that Manchester United and Chelsea have enquired as to his availability according to Sky Sports.

The Brazilian star joined Real Madrid for 24 million euros in 2005, but has since failed to make a significant impact like he did in Brazil for the Spanish giants.

The former Brazilian Player of the Year was touted as the “new Pele” during his time at Santos and attracted the attention of many top clubs in Europe.

Robinho, 24, told the Brazilian press: “I have never hidden away my wish to remain at Real Madrid, but if the interest is serious I will have no problem leaving Real Madrid as the interest from Manchester United and Chelsea makes me very proud.”

Robinho is currently on duty with the Brazilian squad for their upcoming World Cup Qualifiers and has made a total of 37 caps for his country.

A move away from the Santiago Bernabeu could yet prove to be the move that sees the striker reclaim his title as the “new Pele”.
