Real Madrid have sent their condolences to those affected by the riots which followed an Egyptian Premier League match in Port Said.
At least 73 people are known to have died on Wednesday after Al-Masry fans clashed with Al-Ahly players, officials and supporters.
The incident has shocked the football world, and the La Liga leaders have been moved to issue a statement on the tragedy.
“Real Madrid C. F. deeply regrets yesterday’s events in Port Said and wishes to express its support and most sincere condolences to the families of the victims and the people of Egypt,” read an article on the club’s official website.
During an emergency assembly of the Egyptian parliament on Thursday morning, Prime Minister Kamal al-Ganzouri announced the dissolution of the country’s Football Association and vowed those responsible for the riot would be brought to justice.
