Real reject Liverpool approach for Odegaard

Spanish giants Real Madrid have told Liverpool to forget about signing Norwegian wonderkid Martin Odegaard, according to Marca.

The youngster has struggled to break into the senior set-up since joining from Stromsgodset and it was believed he would be made available for loan in January.

Marca has suggested that Liverpool were ready to offer Odegaard an escape route from Santiago Bernabeu as Jurgen Klopp wanted to give the 17-year-old an important role at Anfield.

However, the Reds were told that the Norwegian midfielder would not be leaving Madrid any time soon.

Real Madrid officials believe that Odegaard will develop into a world-class player and as his first year in the reserves is drawing to a close, the player could soon be promoted to the senior side.

Odegaard has made just one La Liga appearance for los Blancos, while featuring in 28 league fixtures for Real Madrid Castilla, scoring 1 goal in the process.
