Real’s Canales out for three weeks: report

Real Madrid could be without summer signing Sergio Canales for two to three weeks after he injured his ankle in a training session, sports daily Marca reported Monday.

The 19-year-old midfielder sprained the ankle on Sunday when was trying to control the ball on his chest, without contact with another player, the newspaper said.

Canales is to undergo further medical tests on Monday to determine the extent of the injury, but an initial examination indicates he could be out for two to three weeks

If confirmed, Canales, who joined Real from league rivals Racing Club Santander on July 1, will miss Real’s Champions League match against French club Auxerre on September 28.

Real are unbeaten this season under new coach Jose Mourinho.
