Redknapp, Parker snare November gongs

Tottenham duo Harry Redknapp and Scott Parker have won the Premier League’s Manager and Player of the Month awards for November.

Redknapp missed the 3-1 away victory over Fulham due to minor heart surgery, but has been instrumental in his side’s success over the course of the season, having already received the accolade once this term in September.

The 64-year-old, who beat off competition from Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini and Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger, insisted that while he had won the award, Spurs’ recent performances have been the result of a team effort.

“We’ve been on a great run so let’s hope we can continue for the rest of the season, and if it does we’ll be right up there,” he said.

“I got the award this month, you know, manager of the month, but it’s a team effort. I’m just a part of that team and obviously the most important people are the players. They’re the ones who have gone out and won the games and done the business on the pitch.”

One of the players who has contributed significantly to his side’s recent form is Scott Parker, with the midfielder instrumental since his move to White Hart Lane from West Ham in the summer.

His form was rewarded as he scooped the prize for player of the month, ahead of team-mate Gareth Bale and Arsenal striker Robin van Persie. But Parker, like his manager, credited his fellow team-mates with helping him to win the award.

“It’s very pleasing to get personal accolades like I have over the last few months, but I’m just pleased to be in a good team really,” he said.

“We’re obviously playing nice stuff at the moment and that’s ultimately why I am getting the awards.”

The 31-year-old was full of praise for his manager, claiming that he has given the players at White Hart Lane confidence.

“I think it is clear to see from the outside exactly what people probably think of Harry, and that’s exactly what he is on the inside. He’s an exceptional manager really,” he continued.

“He gives you the confidence to go out there and play with freedom. He’s done absolute wonders since he came to Tottenham, and he deserves the award as well.”
